About the event

The Radiant Return of Hathor: A Solstice Celebration

In the ancient city of Thebes, where the Nile’s waters whispered secrets and the sun painted the temples in gold, a mystical event unfolded—the Summer Solstice Festival of Hathor. When you RSVP for this event you will get a PDF download of the festival description, ancient Egyptian hyms and instructions on celebrating the festival at home.

🌿 Hathor: The Celestial Enchantress:

  • Hathor, the divine cow goddess, embodied beauty, music, love, and the cosmic dance. Her eyes held the wisdom of ages, and her presence graced both earth and sky.
  • As the Eye of Ra, she journeyed far—from the sun-kissed lands of Nubia to the fertile embrace of Lower Egypt. Her return was a celestial ballet, choreographed by the gods themselves.

🌅 The Eve of Solstice:

  • On the eve of the summer solstice, when the sun lingered longest in the azure heavens, the people gathered. Their footsteps echoed through temple courtyards adorned with lotus blooms and incense.
  • Thebes, heart of Egypt, hummed with anticipation. Priests donned sacred robes, and musicians tuned their lyres. The air shimmered with magic.

🌟 The Return of the Eye:

  • Hathor, veiled in celestial veils, descended. Her luminous gaze swept across the Nile, touching every heart. She was the Eye of Ra, the watchful guardian, the bringer of balance.
  • As the sun dipped toward the western horizon, Hathor’s radiance intensified. She merged with the setting orb, becoming its fiery counterpart.

🌺 Offerings and Revelry:

  • The festival unfolded—a symphony of offerings. Figs and honeyed wine adorned altars. Hathor’s devotees danced, their feet imprinting the sands of time.
  • Amidst the jubilation, whispers carried tales of love and longing. For Hathor was not only the cosmic wanderer; she was the muse of hearts entwined.

🌄 The Eternal Promise:

  • As the solstice sun kissed the sacred obelisks, the veil between realms thinned. Hathor’s return symbolized more than astronomical alignment—it heralded renewal.
  • From Nubia to Lower Egypt, her journey mirrored life’s cyclical dance. Birth, death, and rebirth—the eternal promise etched in hieroglyphs.

🌙 The Night’s Embrace:

  • As stars emerged, Hathor ascended. She became the celesital cow, our Miky Way. Her celestial form guided sacred scarabs, sailors, lovers, and dreamers alike.
  • And so, Thebes slept under a canopy of stardust, cradled by the goddess’s benevolent gaze.

Join us as we gather to discuss this ancient celebration to the goddess. May your heart echo with the ancient hymns of Hathor. 🌟🌺🌞
